Pac Man 256

2015, A Year of being Sleep Deprived

I recently did the sound for the latest Pac-Man game, Pac-Man 256. Developed by Hipster Whale and 3 Sprockets, this game takes from the original classic and puts it in a new context. The world is no longer straight top down, but on an angle, similar to Crossy Road, and the player is chased by an ominous glitch wall, based on the glitch found in level 256 of the original game.

I got the job thanks to Fabian at The Otherworld Agency and worked closely with additional sound designer Tim Whitt. It was our job to remix the original sounds, bring in an element of modernity and freshness, whilst keeping true to the Pac-Man legacy. No pressure!! We made a huge amount of sounds using Roland System-1, Zebra and Massive synthesisers, emulating the pitch modulation inherent in the originals, whilst adding additional thuds, cheers, beats and other crazy sounds to the mix.

You can get the game on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.
